As a child I was always drawing and making things such as paper dolls' houses and furniture, dolls' clothes, and presents for family and friends, and playing the piano. I moved on to stitching, making clothes, painting, drawing (including selling pencil drawings of current pop stars to school friends), and later, taking photographs with my first basic SLR camera. A choice of careers beckoned, would it be music, art or something more academic?

In the end, my 'sensible' genes won out, and, with a BScHons in Business Studies, I followed a business career taking in accountancy, retail, and international marketing communications in high-tech industry. Many years later, following changes in my work circumstances, I decided to pursue a long-held dream of studying for an art degree. I graduated in 2002 with a First Class BAHons in Creative Arts (Fine Art and Textiles).

Now working as a full time artist, I am inspired by light, colour, nature and world cultures. Working intuitively, I aim to create beautiful work, whether that results in intricate textile works and silk fibre sculptures, or paintings and mixed media collages. I am currently developing my work through the ongoing exploration of textile techniques and mixed-media experimentation.
